My very first impression of Finland

My flight was on a Finnair airplane from Boston to Helsinki. This was a trip that would change my entire life in ways I could not even start to imagine. Somehow I had managed not to be nervous about this whole life changing situation, I had allowed myself to settle in this numb state that kept me safe from being scared.

The flight itself was not bad, however there was this weird situation. A fat man, I assumed he was Finnish because of the white skin, and blonde hair, who sat next to me and started to complain about everything on the plane. Luckily before the plane took off one of the stewardess offered me to move to an empty row.

On arrival I got a ride from my aunt, I would stay there for a few days before going to the city of Turku, my final destination. On the car ride from the airport to a sector in Espoo I started to panic, suddenly I felt like everything was going in slow-motion and it all turned black and white. It all seemed so grey and desolated that I felt like being in one of those depressed post-war cities in eastern Europe.

This sensation stayed with me for a few days until I got to Turku.
